I listen to Dolly Parton a LOT, in recent years I also started listening to other (mostly female haha) country artists. Any favourites of people on here I should check out?

Come on Over is about as "country" as Light Years is, and Up!, you have to get the right coloured disc to get country following her shameful attempt to appeal to all markets.

I'm a big fan of the US TV series, "Nashville", and I really enjoy a lot of the original country music written for that show. It's great, and you get quite a diverse mix of country sounds (some more pop, some rockier).

Shania Twain is not that much of a country artist indeed... she has the look but come on...

Actually a few country artists that are good(or country related at least, few artists today are "pure" country artist, these are more country rock ones)
    Brad Paisley
    Tim McGraw
    Lee Brice
    Carrie Underwood
Brooks & Dunn (the bests !)
    Blake Shelton
    Travis Tritt

Rascal Flatts : they have some country sounding songs

    Oldies but goodies :
    Johnny Cash
    Kenny Rogers

    Enjoy !

Yes, I love Carrie underwood as well! Shania not so much, save for the few hits she had. Yesterday, I received by Greatest hits 3CD set by Tim McGraw, just listened to it, and like it a lot! Also, love the hits compilation by his wife! The new Dierks Bentley album is quite nice, too!

Reba McEntire, one of the biggest seling female artists of all time. She is amazing, her voice still gives me goosebumps. I have followed her for as long as i've followed Kylie. Love her.
wave of love coming over me,
got a glitter drop fall and i'm on my knees,
got the sound of you ringing in my ears.
Sun coming up, on another day,
got a second hand chance gonna do it again.
got rainbow colours and No More Rain..........

... still in most recordstores you'll find Shania Twain in the country-section ... what about her Woman In Me album then? ...

... okay ... what about Gretchen Wilson? Played her 'Here For the Party' album in the car whilst driving around the US desert southwest in 2004 I think ...

I noticed there were some great songs in the bits of it that I caught.

i stumbled on a line dancing party while exploring in Vegas once. This one will always remind me of that night.
