What happened between Deconstruction Records and Kylie exactly? Did they broke the deal/fired her after Impossible Princess or something?

They ‘mutually parted ways’...which essentially translates as her being dropped. That said, both parties were happy for the contract to end.

I think she was contracted for 3 albums, so, having delivered ‘Kylie Minogue’ and ‘Impossible Princess’, ‘Mixes’ was released to fulfil the terms of the contract.

It was clear that things weren’t working...she wasn’t offering good return on the money being invested , and Kylie wasn’t getting the support she needed.

So it was originally a five album deal, however. TB had built in various clauses (as had deCon/BMG) to break or change that.

After IP they had to issue a “third” release to please all parties to remove breach of contract concerns (THP may be able to confirm more) my involvement with Terry ended around the end of the IP era so it becomes a little hazy for a few years (till the 1999 album)

So, was the planned third album the rumored acoustic one, or mixes?
