Is it really that good? and why? genuine question as the previews really don't do anything for me. Is it just about karate or is is like Buffy, where it was never really about the vampires

I wanna watch it, (almost did last night, but than the preview started and the little excitement was gone again) but just not sure if i will like it. Had the same thing with Breaking Bad. Only started watching (and finishing it) a few months ago.
