All true my dear. I think the problem is also with her old material, which as we know she is biased to perform regularly in concert. Trying to still sound like she sounded in her teens, 20's and 30's is a challenge when, as you say - the tone and character of any voice, especially female changes.
Madonna has had a similar problem with old material and had to sing it in quite a different approach. They are "light, pop voice" recordings and audiences, especially in this day and age, want them to sound as much like the recordings as possible. It's a pressure a lot of mainstream artists are under.
I moan about Kylie having to lower the keys for increasingly more of her PWL hits, so I am guilty of it myself. e.g. she hasn't sung Better The Devil You Know or Lucky in their original keys since the 90's.
