All true my dear. I think the problem is also with her old material, which as we know she is biased to perform regularly in concert. Trying to still sound like she sounded in her teens, 20's and 30's is a challenge when, as you say - the tone and character of any voice, especially female changes.

Madonna has had a similar problem with old material and had to sing it in quite a different approach. They are "light, pop voice" recordings and audiences, especially in this day and age, want them to sound as much like the recordings as possible. It's a pressure a lot of mainstream artists are under.

I moan about Kylie having to lower the keys for increasingly more of her PWL hits, so I am guilty of it myself. e.g. she hasn't sung Better The Devil You Know or Lucky in their original keys since the 90's.

Yes, I've always noticed that for BTDYK. She sings it lower since she was 30, which is also the time when she started touring every 2-3 years... I was pleasantly surprised when she performed it with higher voice on the TOTP Minogue Medley in 2004. I didn't like it on both Showgirl tours. It was really low and monotonous. I'm not a specialist but I liked it on Glastonbury, maybe not that low... hehhe

It has been remarked on once or twice in interviews. Probably around the time of the Anti Tour, where she said something like she could sing the original keys for one off shows, but not something she could maintain for a whole tour.

And yes, BTDYK sounds quite flat on all the "21st century" tours - it loses a lot of it's dynamic range. I always find it disappointing.

Absolutely. One of her best songs and one of her worst live. I'm always disappointed when I hear it on tour. The power of BTDYK is in its dynamic high vocal performance, which is lacking in the flat live arrangements. But I understand that it's not OK for her to perform it every night on tour in its original key.
